India’s favorite off-roader is going electric. The upcoming Mahindra Thar.e could launch in India by August 2026, bringing rugged capability with zero emissions.

While official specs are not confirmed, experts expect the Mahindra Thar.e to deliver around 400–450 km range on a single charge. That makes it practical for both city drives and long trips.
Electric motors deliver instant torque — perfect for off-road driving. The Thar.e could feature: • Dual-motor AWD system • Advanced terrain modes • Strong ground clearance Built to dominate rough trails.
Industry estimates suggest a price around ₹25–30 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned above the petrol and diesel Mahindra Thar, the EV version will target premium SUV buyers.
Once launched, the Mahindra Thar.e may compete with upcoming electric SUVs like: • Tata Harrier EV • Mahindra XUV.e8 But none may match its hardcore off-road character.
According to industry timelines, Mahindra & Mahindra could launch the Thar.e in August 2026. Production is expected to begin shortly before the launch.
